1.Our commitment
We want everyone who visits the Motadvisor website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding. We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.
To achieve this, we aim to adhere as closely as possible to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standards. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user-friendly for everyone.
2.Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Three levels of conformance are defined: Level A (lowest), Level AA, and Level AAA (highest).
Motadvisor is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the accessibility standard. We are actively working to address the known limitations listed in the section below.
Our most recent internal accessibility audit was conducted on 20 May 2026 using a combination of automated tools (Axe DevTools, WAVE) and manual testing with keyboard navigation and screen reader software (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS).

We have implemented the following measures to ensure accessibility of the Motadvisor website:
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements including links, buttons, form fields, and the mobile navigation drawer are fully operable via keyboard alone. Visible focus indicators are provided for all focused elements.
- Semantic HTML: We use appropriate heading hierarchies (h1–h4), landmark regions (main, nav, aside, footer), and ARIA labels where necessary to provide clear page structure for screen reader users.
- Colour contrast: Text and interactive elements meet the minimum colour contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds. Visual indicators such as borders and underlines are used in addition to colour to convey information.
- Alt text for images: All informative images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked as hidden from assistive technology using empty alt attributes or aria-hidden.
- Resizable text: All text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality using browser zoom controls. The layout adapts responsively across different screen sizes.
- Forms and labels: All form inputs have associated labels that are programmatically linked. Required fields are clearly indicated with both a visual asterisk (*) and text. Error messages provide clear guidance on how to correct mistakes.
- Skip links: A "Skip to main content" link is provided at the top of each page to allow keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation.
- Accessible icons: Material icons used throughout the site include appropriate aria-hidden attributes or descriptive text labels where they convey meaning.
4.Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content on the website may not yet be fully accessible. The known limitations we are currently addressing are listed below:
- MOT history data tables: The historical test result tables on vehicle check pages may not be fully optimised for screen reader navigation. We are working on a more accessible table structure with proper row and column headers. Target resolution: July 2026.
- PDF documents: Some downloadable resources (such as the MOT test items checklist) are provided as PDFs that may not have been created with full accessibility tagging. We are in the process of remediating these documents. In the meantime, if you need a document in an alternative format, please contact us.
- Third-party embedded content: Where we embed content from external services (such as the DVSA database responses), we rely on those providers to maintain accessibility. We cannot directly control the markup of data returned by external APIs.
- Older browser support: The website is optimised for modern browsers that support current accessibility APIs. Users on very old browsers such as Internet Explorer 11 may experience degraded performance and reduced accessibility support.
5.Compatibility with assistive technology
Motadvisor is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies and browser combinations:
- Screen readers: NVDA (2024.1 and later) with Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox on Windows 10/11. VoiceOver with Safari on macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later. TalkBack with Google Chrome on Android 14 and later.
- Magnification software: ZoomText 2024 and later on Windows. Built-in screen magnification on macOS, iOS, and Android.
- Speech recognition: Dragon Naturally Speaking 16 and later on Windows. Voice Control on macOS and iOS.
- Keyboard-only navigation: Standard keyboard with visual focus indicator, supported across all major desktop browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) at the latest two versions.
The website relies on the following technologies to achieve accessibility and functionality:
- HTML5 semantic elements
- CSS3 for layout and styling (including CSS Grid and Flexbox)
- JavaScript for enhanced interactivity (the core MOT checking functionality degrades gracefully when JavaScript is disabled)
- WAI-ARIA 1.2 for supplementary landmark and state information where HTML semantics alone are insufficient
6.Feedback and contact information
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of the Motadvisor website. Please let us know if you encounter any accessibility barriers, have suggestions for improvement, or need information in an alternative format.
You can contact us through any of the following channels:

This accessibility statement was prepared on 26 May 2026. The statement was last reviewed on 26 May 2026.
This website was last tested on 20 May 2026. The test was carried out by our internal development team using a combination of automated testing tools and manual testing with assistive technologies.
We used the following evaluation methods during our most recent audit:
- Automated scanning with Axe DevTools Pro (Deque Systems) across all unique page templates
- Manual keyboard-only navigation testing of all user flows, including the search function and result pages
- Screen reader testing with NVDA (Windows) and VoiceOver (macOS) to verify semantic structure and interactive element labelling
- Colour contrast analysis using the WebAIM Contrast Checker and the axe-core colour contrast engine
- Responsive design testing across multiple viewport sizes (320px to 1920px) and device types
A sample of representative pages was tested, including the homepage, MOT check results page, privacy policy page, contact us page, and this accessibility statement page.
